There are SO many good places to eat pizza in London. Most of them are fast paced, the atmosphere is loud and it can get pretty crowded. Not a bad thing AT ALL and some days definitely call for those places.
Some days also call for the stodgy, greasy goodness of a takeaway Dominos or Pizza Hut.
But Theo’s in Camberwell is a proper local neighbourhood pizzeria serving delicious wood-fired oven, Neapolitan-style, thin base, thick crust pizza.
This place feels authentic.
It’s beautifully decorated with its white wash walls, marble tables and open kitchen. It’s like you’ve stepped into an ultra-modern restaurant in somewhere like Spain or Italy rather than Camberwell. (No offence.)
Starters include garlic bread, aubergine parmigiana and these huge fluffy, mozzarella and potato croquettes with a dollop of their homemade chili sauce.
Real comfort food.
Followed by a main menu of top pizzas like these…
Sausage meat, basil and sweet onion….
… and thick ham, roasted sweetcorn with a white base!
If there’s a white pizza on the menu GET IT. Swapping the relatively healthy tomato base for one made of cream and cheese is possibly one of the best things you could ever do.
Theo’s is somewhere you can have the best of both worlds.
You could have a kids party in the day, and an evening with loads of mates, food and booze!
Final thought? Watch this space – I think we’ve got a cool kid in town that’s gonna give the others a run for their money. Maybe in a years time, we’ll see them popping up everywhere. Hopefully anyway!
