If your fan of pulled pork, ribs and onion rings the size of your head then you NEED to keep reading.
Brixton Village has been mentioned a few times on notsobasiclondon.com.
An indoor market in South London that on the outside looks like NOTHING like the wonder of what you find on the inside.
It’s a buzzing, lively place packed wth fresh produce, vintage clothing shops, and some amazing food and drink places. Breakfast at Burnt Toast Cafe, crepes at Senzala Creperie and of course pulled pork at The Joint. What better place to host the March grub club event (more info here if you’re interested).
The Joint is what can only be described as a tiny hub serving massive flavors and even bigger portions.
It’s the home of melt in your mouth, 16 hour, slow cooked pulled pork created in 2012 by one chef and one baker combining their passion for food.
With its casual alfresco seating, funky drinks list and a menu fit for any carnivore; it’s the perfect place to grab a load of mates and get down and dirty.
Everything is made in-house and behind the scenes, the chefs work hard and fast to produce some epic burgers, ribs, and sides that will knock your socks off.
Once you put in your order with one of the team (a right friendly bunch too), out comes a feast for the eyes as well as the stomach.
Not before taking a few pictures first.
There’s 16 hour, slow cooked, BBQ pulled pork bun with slaw and candied bacon. Available in pulled chicken as well…
… with the option to add extra cheese or guacamole like these babies too which is HIGHLY recommended.
…or opt for it in a wrap if you prefer.
There’s beef brisket with smoked aioli and bacon relish…
And then the sides!
OH, THE SIDES!
BBQ ribs, sweet potato fries, and hush puppies.
As well as some extra crunchy onion rings and deep-fried mac and cheese balls.
Drinks wise they have a good cocktail menu and beer menu too, straight from Brixton brewery. Keeping it in the family and all that.
Especially good on a Friday or Saturday night. Such a good atmosphere.
If you like big flavors, aren’t on a diet and ain’t afraid of getting REALLY messy then this is the place for you! You will get covered in sauce, you may even get a little bit fat, but when it’s this good who really cares.
Then go for a wander around the village and get dessert. *Hint: Nutella crepes at Senzala!*
Big thanks to everyone who came to the event and if you want to hear more about the next one click here.
Just one more look at this before you go…

Ooh that beef brisket sounds so yummy – actually everything does! What a fabulous find!
Hi Charlotte,
Thanks so much for hanging out with Luda, Irina and me on our recent trip to London. The Joint was the bomb. Irina is still talking about the fried mac & cheese. And how about living on the edge with us at Senzala Creperie? Wasn’t it fun just having them bring us crepes? Warmest Regards, Evan
