I’ve got to admit I’m not great at finding the time to sit down to read a book. There’s always something I feel I need to be doing like putting the washing away and general life admin. That’s why I love podcasts so much. I’m obsessed. I listen to at least one podcast a day and sometimes even 2 or 3 usually while I’m commuting or pottering around the house. What I subscribe to is very varied. I listen to very profound and educational material as well as not so profound things like listening to someone reading chapters from a hilarious erotic novel written by their dad. Here are 10 brilliant podcasts you should be listening to right now!
I found out about Tony Robbins when my best friend made me watch an amazing documentary on Netflix called ‘I’m Not Your Guru’. Tony is the worlds top life and business coach. 2. My Dad Wrote A Porno
If you’re easily offended, hate swearing or don’t like rude, crude behaviour this podcast IS NOT for you. My Dad Wrote A Porno is the creation of Alice Levine, James Cooper and Jamie Morton who every week read out a chapter from the erotic novel written TERRIBLY by Jamie’s dad. The book is called ‘Belinda Blinked’ and follows Belinda Blumenthal who works for ‘Steels Pots and Pans’ and between the business, gets up to some filthy and HILARIOUS antics. The podcast is totally unscripted and usually recorded while a few drinks are being had! It’s had over 100 million downloads and it’s laugh out loud funny. Think Fifty Shades of Grey but 10 times worse and 1000 times funnier.
Comedians Ed Gamble and James Acaster invite a different special guest into their make-believe restaurant and ask them to choose their ultimate starter, main course, side dish, dessert and drink. Mixed together with hilarious antidotes and their quick wit – what’s your dream menu and most importantly what does it say about you!
Since starting this blog, Pro Blogger has been my absolute bible. It’s hosted by Aussie blogger Darren Rowse who went from full-time office job to a six-figure blogging business. Yes, I’m one of these weird people who’s fascinated by murders, trials and serial killer – don’t judge me! Karen Kilgariff & Georgia Hardstark are my two new favourite girlfriends. Both ladies (like me) have an obsession with true crime and every week they talk about their favourite murders from around the world. It’s important to understand these hilarious women are not condoning or getting a kick out of the murders themselves but what they are doing is telling us the ones they find the most interesting, the most controversial and the ones which are just plain bizarre. It makes for some great listening and you’ll find it sat on Itunes top 10 comedy podcasts regularly. P.S They say f**k at least 50,000,00,00 times an episode.
The Fizzle Show is a high energy podcast for entrepreneurs or people looking to create any type of independent online business. Chase, Steph and Corbett talk you through the tools of how to do this, interviewing industry experts and asking questions that you as a business builder need to know to move forward! How to launch a course, what to do when you face negativity in business, How to manage a full-time job while creating a business – these are the types of things they discuss! It’s funny (and a bit wild at times!), authentic and feels like you’re listening to a bunch of really intelligent mates giving you the best advice possible.
If you haven’t heard of JVN (Jonathan Van Ness) where have you been! He’s one of the fab five from the Netflix TV show ‘Queer Eye’ where five gay guys use their expertise to makeover someone’s entire life. JVN is the hair stylist of the group, however, he’s not just a pretty face! On his podcast, he interviews a different person each week debating serious world political issues to not so serious ‘ How did Kim Kardashian break the internet’? All done in his own fabulous energetic way!
TedTalks (Technology, Entertainment and Design) are the non-profit worldwide phenomenon who perform short and incredibly powerful talks on life, politics and religion. A guest speaker, usually an expert in their particular field brings a question to the table and explores the idea in front of an audience. How can I find happiness? Is school killing creativity? 10 things you didn’t know about orgasm (yes, they are very varied) are just a few you can expect. Tedtalks are incredibly motivating, thought-provoking and a great way to open up your mind to different experiences and opinions. It’s these type of things that make you a more well-rounded person.
If you struggle with dieting, an eating disorder or you just want to get a better relationship with food, the Intuitive Eating podcast is just what you need. Martita Robinson is a wonderful lady who from her garden in Texas talks us through the concept of Intuitive eating and how when we truly listen to our bodies again we can quit the cycle of dieting for good and most importantly get back to good mental health. She helps us using mediations, tips and lessons from her own experience. You don’t have to have (or had) a binge eating disorder to benefit.
If there is one thing I’ve been obsessed with recently it’s the Netflix series ‘The Staircase’. It follows the trial of Michael Peterson who was convicted of killing his wife Kathleen after he found her dead at the bottom of the staircase. Beyond Reasonable Doubt is a podcast not only following the trial of Michael but re-looking at the documentary and how credible it really is. Watch the series, then listen to this and I’d love to see whether you think he did it or not. Because I know I’m 100% convinced on my verdict.
Happy Listening and if you download any of them let me know what you think. X
Wait! Before you go…
