If you haven’t heard of or been to Highgate Village, it’s a beautiful part that doesn’t feel like your in London at all. Away from the tourist traps in the centre, It has some lovely pubs, greengrocers, butchers and some VERY expensive houses that some VERY famous people live in.
Right in the centre of this little village is Hightea of Highgate.
This pretty little cafe serves delicious cakes, and afternoon tea complete with 2 warm scones and a heap of cream, jam and a cuppa tea is only £6.95.
The scones come out warm with lots of thick clotted cream and jam…
……or If you prefer a slice of the good stuff the cakes (including this lemon curd one) are never over £3.50.
Maybe you think that sounds expensive for a slice of cake, but for London, the area, and how tasty it was that’s pretty damn good!
Highgate is a really lovely place to walk around of an afternoon, and this a really good choice to stop for a cuppa and something sweet.
If you don’t want a cake or a scone (what’s wrong with you), they do brownies and flapjacks. Even a small bit of savoury if you don’t want sweet.
Then you can stop by the local charity shops in the hope of finding a plate worth a million pound. Closely followed by staring in the estate agent windows and realising that if you want to live here you need to win the lottery.
We can all dream.
