Hello and welcome to my first post! How exciting!
I’ve lived in London for just over 4 years now and people always comment how I’m always exploring different places, making indulgent things and eating in nice places! Yes they would be right but what most people don’t know is I try and do it all without breaking the bank! So whether you just fancy a read or need some ideas, I thought I’d share them with you!
Join me on my frugal adventures around London and beyond! …. Brixton is our first destination …
In the words of Eddie Grant ‘Were going to rock down to Electric Avenue’. I love Brixton. Home to good shopping, good food, good vibes and two poundstores! – what’s not to love! You can be sure you’ll always come across a few colourful characters too…
I’m a regular In Brixton and many a walking tour has whizzed past that I always fancied joining! But for £79 that some companies are charging?! Are you kidding me? No way Jose!
So away I went and after some research I found one – a great one, and not for £79 but for £3. Yes £3! Add a dinner and dessert at an awesome pancake place in the village and you’ve got a great day out for under a tenner!
The tour I found is arranged through brixton society which you can find here … www.brixtonsociety.org.uk/brixton-markets-heritage-walks . You also get a snazzy guide book too!
Walking shoes at the ready we were off! Chatting and winding our way through the streets, past the market stalls, inside Brixton Village and down Electric Avenue… finding out everything from history to food, architecture to shopping…
Brixton Village is one of my London loves! The village is a wonderful mash up of every food and drink you can imagine under one roof. Reminds me a bit of being on holiday! The atmosphere is awesome, especially at the weekend , and in most places it’s bring your own booze! What’s not to love!
45 minutes later and thanks to out lovely tour guide we were seriously clued up with everything you’d ever need to know what the wonder that is Brixton! And with that we had seriously worked up an appetite…
What you’ll learn about me is that any opportunity to eat, i’m there! I practically come with a knife and fork. So where else to go after all that walking? Back to Brixton Village of course … Pizza at Franco Manca?Perhaps an Honest burger? Hot melting cheese pancakes followed by my body weight in Nutella @ Senzala Creperie? Yes please!
Couldn’t resist and action shot…
Theo had his avec les oeufs which looked delish but it was a simple choice for me . Just cheese, cheese and more cheese. Followed by chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate.
Followed by a puddle of Nutella….
What you will also learn through this blog is that i am a self confessed and proud Nutella addict so there will absolutely most definatley be more of that to come!
Oh yeh and did i mention both of mine came to £7.90????
So an awesome day filled with a bit culture, a lot of food and what I think qualifies as a bit of exercise (maybe?) all for just over a tenner. Book your ticket, get your walking shoes on, undo your belts and head to Brixton. You wont be disappointed!
