What about cheese and bread? Cheese and meat? Or even maybe cheese and ice cream?
Well, lucky for you if you like your cheese there’s a place in London that’s home to all of the above (minus the Nutella) and it’s definitely one for the cheese lovers list.
Androuet in Spitalfields Market is a specialist restaurant and shop that specialises in ALL. THING. CHEESE.
Such experts in fact that they supply the famous Paxton and Whitfield who in turn supply the queen with all her cheese needs! Impressive, eh!
They do molten cheese raclette, custom-made cheese boards and big steaming bowls of cheese fondue.Yes, cheese ice-cream too, I wasn’t lying.
Setting themselves in a cosy alpine inspired surroundings, you can eat alfresco (even in winter) with a glass of wine in hand and a blanket over your legs.
All the while sitting in one of London’s favourite markets, watching the world go by and eating your body weight in the good stuff.
It comes in three ways.
Classic, blue or the weekly special, and they’re all served with a big basket of bread and signature fondue forks!
There’s also a whole load of things you can choose (must choose) to go with it too because a whole basket of fresh bread just isn’t enough. *Rolls eyes*.
Buttered new potatoes…
Quince jelly and caramelised onion chutney.
Getting sweeter things to cut through the rich cheese is a big tip from me.
Now you’re ready for the dunking to commence and there’s a video below you need to see to show you what you’re getting involved in…
You’ll sit and think you’ll never finish it all and suddenly you’re sat there scraping the crispy cheese off the bottom of the pan. The best bits just like the crispy corners of a lasagne.
A fondue with bread for two people will set you back at under a tenner each! Add in the extras like we did or get a glass of house wine it’ll still be under £20. Pretty good going right considering how many calories you just ate haha.
If you’re really not into your cheese, first what’s wrong with you? But second, don’t be put off cos there’s meat boards to be had too. If you’re a vegetarian who doesn’t like cheese your at the wroooonnnnnng restaurant!
Androuet’s the perfect place if you’re into the whole sharing is caring thing. No booking required. Just turn up, grab a seat, a blanket and a glass of wine. The staff are knowledgeable and will take care of you. Just pretend you’re sat in some fancy ski resort and get ready for the cheese induced coma.
Oh yeah, remember that cheese ice-cream? Well, here it is.
…and it really is cheese in ice-cream. It’s very … let’s say interesting. One to try just to say you have.
